Show notes:

In the first segment, our panelists discuss a bill backed by members of the Arizona legislature that would ban books like “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” “1984” and “The Great Gatsby” from Arizona schools because they contain frank descriptions of sex and sexuality, and that critics say would effectively make it illegal to teach about homosexuality.

In the second segment of the show, we discuss the Shields of Strength replica dog tags inscribed with Bible verses which have been worn by over a million U.S. Military service members since 1997. Now, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation is trying to have them removed because they have a religious message. The Pentagon is still trying to resolve this matter.

In the third segment, our focus turns to Federal Bureau of Investigation v. Fazaga. Last month, justices agreed to hear a case questioning the government’s ability to withhold certain kinds of evidence under its state secrets privilege. The lawsuit was brought by a group of Muslim men who say the FBI targeted them after they refused to help spy on their faith community.
