Rushern L. Baker III

Rushern L. Baker III is the President and CEO of Baker Strategy Group.

Professor at UMD, School of Public Policy and former Prince George’s County in Maryland Executive, Rushern L. Baker, III served as the 7th County Executive of Prince George’s County, MD from 2010 to 2018. He started his political career in the Maryland House of Delegates in 1994 where he served until 2002.

Mr. Baker is a former President of the County Executives of America, served as a board member for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and the National Association of Counties. In 2012, Mr. Baker created the nationally recognized Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative (TNI), an innovative approach to uplift economically challenged neighborhoods. This collaborative approach between the government and the community helped reduce overall crime by 50% during his administration and was the catalyst for significant grant funding coming into the county to address public safety.

Mr. Baker received his undergraduate and law degrees from Howard University in Washington, DC.
