Show notes:
In the first segment, our panelists discuss the Affordable Care Act. A new HHS Report shows ways the Biden-Harris Administration’s American Rescue Plan Investments are lowering health care costs and expanding coverage.
In the second segment of the show, we discuss the Christian response to Critical Race Theory. At its core, Critical Race Theory is a call for Americans to reflect on and admit our past shortcomings, strive to be the best nation we can now, and build a better future for our children. But pundits on the Right and Left have tried to use CRT to divide us and demonize their opponents. Rather than reflect and listen, the powers of the world have turned CRT into a fight over labels and opportunity to scare up small dollar donations. For Christians, CRT should present the perfect opportunity to witness our values of repentance, grace, and loving one another as Christ loved us.
In the third segment, our focus turns to the court case, Orr v. Christian Brothers High School. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled against former Christian Brothers High School (CBHS) principal Chris Orr, upholding a lower court’s decision that Orr was a “minister of the school” and dismissing his complaints of discrimination. A three-judge panel ruled that Orr, who was CBHS’s first Black principal, was fired legally without reason because his employment is categorized as “ministerial.” The educator said he respects the decision and vowed to continue pursuing the case.
