Show notes:
In the first segment, our panelists discuss the alarming rise in religious freedom violations in Cuba, with over 600 incidents reported in the past year. They examine the Cuban government’s intensified repression against religious groups since the 2021 protests, focusing on the harassment, surveillance, and denial of rights faced by various faith communities, including Afro-Cuban groups, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Protestants, and Catholics.
In the second segment of the show, we explore the court case Billard v. Diocese of Charlotte, where a substitute teacher is suing the Diocese for losing his position after advocating against Catholic teachings. The discussion centers on the conflict between religious institutions’ rights to enforce doctrinal standards and the legal protections for employees under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
