Show notes:
In the first segment, our panelists discuss equality of the LGBTQ Community with classes protected under the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Equality Act amends the 1964 Civil Rights Act to include LGBTQ people. It would make discrimination in housing, employment and public accommodations illegal. The bill first passed the U.S. House in 2019 but died in the Republican-controlled Senate.
In the second segment of the show, we discuss the selection of a Supreme Court Justice, potentially an African American Woman. In the third segment, our focus turns to the Black Church and its history in courts and the language of religious freedom intertwined with the language of civil liberties.
